William "Terry" Higdon went to be with the Lord on December 25th, 2025, after a courageous battle with Dementia and Alzheimer's. Terry was born on October 9th, 1947, to Art and Mary Ann Higdon in Paducah KY. He was the middle child of 5. Terry had 3 brothers Larry Higdon (+2020), Wayne Higdon (+2024), Artie Higdon and 1 sister, Rebecca Jean Romero. He grew up in Fancy Farm KY and El Monte CA. He graduated HS from Bishop Amat Memorial High School where he met his wife, Kathleen Higdon (Parkhill) (+2011). Terry worked as a Grocery Store Manager and later went through the Police Academy where he would work as a Police Officer for the city of Monterey Park. In 1967, they had their 1st child, Wendy Lynne Higdon (+2025), in 1971, had their 2nd child Margaret Ann Higdon (Maggie) and in 1972, their only son, William Jared Higdon. In 1978 Terry and Kathi and their 3 children moved to McAllen, TX where they both worked for the family construction company, Parkhill Construction. In 1980, their 4th child was born, Mary Katherine Higdon (Katie). In 1983, Terry would start his own company. TnT Maintenance, where he prospered as a General contractor and Remodeling specialist.

Terry had a passion for sports, thus becoming one of the top High School sports officials in the RGV (Rio Grande Valley) for Baseball, Football and Basketball. Working numerous big level and high-profile games from Brownsville TX to Eagle Pass TX. He also excelled as an NCAA College Baseball umpire for over 25 years. He officiated sports for over 40 years as part of the SOA, (Southwest Officials Association) and TASO (Texas Association of Sports Officials) as well. He was inducted into the Mexican Baseball Umpires Hall of Fame (2012) before his officiating came to an end in 2018. He continued his business through 2021, as his Dementia progressed, he was unable to work as hard as he always had.

Terry was a jokester who loved playing poker with his buddies and endless card games with his family and friends. He loved to go to his two favorite places, Las Vegas Café and the real Las Vegas. He also loved going back to Kentucky every summer to see his family and friends during the "picnic" season. He had a great passion for cooking and baking as everyone could never get enough of his Pumpkin cake, Grapefruit pie, and Hershey chocolate cake.

Terry remarried in 2020 and is survived by Rosario Barrajas Vera Higdon and his children, Maggie Marcelli (David), Jared Higdon (Veronica) and Katie Higdon. He is also survived by his brother Artie Higdon (Leslie) and Becki Romero (Ned). Grandchildren include Tyler Kalusevic (Mirko) William Dalton Pruitt (Joanna), Jared Higdon II, Kylie Doerr (Cole), Victoria Higdon, Ben Leveck, Christian Hernandez (Dafne), Cameron Herrera, Hunter Herrera and Landon Herrera as well as 9 GREAT Granddaughters, as well as many dear nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearers are William Dalton Pruitt, Benjamin Leveck, William J Higdon II, Christian Hernandez, Cameron Herrera, Hunter Herrera and William Thomas Landon Herrera.

Visitation will begin at 10:00am on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen with a Service at 11am.

The Higdon family would like to thank Heather Yanez with Vida De Paz Hospice for all the care and attention she provided to William.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Dementia/Alzheimer's Association for research
