William "Bill" Holtz, age 83, of Millcreek, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at his home. He was born November 7, 1941, in Erie, a son of Alice (Cooper) and William Holtz.

Bill graduated from Cathedral Prep, Class of 1959 and Gannon College, class of 1963. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1968. He worked at AMSCO/STERIS as a systems analyst until his retirement 27 years ago. He was an active member of St. George Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Bill made Cursillo #99 and continued to meet with his group for over 40 years. He met with former work colleagues every Monday morning for coffee and on Wednesday morning with the men from his prayer group. He was an amateur photographer and loved to take pictures. He considered himself to be a handyman and fixed and built things his entire life. During the past couple of years, he might have been found on the roof despite protests from his wife and children. He and Jo Ann drove their car to 47 states and enjoyed stopping at museums and presidential libraries. He loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren who were often confused by his sarcastic comments-all in fun.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathy and his brother, David. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Jo Ann; his son, Bill (Ann) and daughters; Lisa Syrek, Amy (Paul) Cymanski, Lori (Mike) Riley and Amy "AJ" Lamm; grandchildren Andrew and Megan Syrek, Katie (Billy) Korecky, Emily and Olivia Cymanski, Sarah Riley, William and Henry Holtz, and Brenna OhAilin.

The family wants to thank friends and family who offered their prayers and support during Bill's brief illness. They also want to thank Katie and Bree from AseraCare Hospice for the exceptional care they provided Bill.

I am saddened by Bill's passing. I served with Bill at Sheppard AFB in the late 60's. One time, 3 of us were sent to Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Ill on an assignment to teach a class. The officer's club was closed for repair and our only meal would be pizza that gets cut into 8 pieces. The third guy volunteered to let Bill and I eat a third piece which we both accepted quickly to the dismay of the third guy who really expected us to refuse so he could have the third piece. I always enjoyed Bill's dry and as-you-say sarcastic humor. I lost his email address in a computer crash and was never able to contact him in quite a while. I just thought of him today and queried him on the internet only to find this sad announcement. My condolences to his family who will greatly miss this great man that I have never forgotten. Dear JoAnn,
I am so sorry to learn of your loss of Bill. I just saw him in July and was shocked to see his Obituary. I have many nice memories of working with Bill over the years and was happy to call him a friend. Please know I am praying for you and your family. Love, Nancy
