William Hubbard Obituary

Born on April 7, 1930 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Zenus Oscar Hubbard and Mamie Chastain Hubbard. Mr. Hubbard was retired from the United States Postal Service in Hartwell with 30 years of service beginning as a mail carrier and retiring as Superintendent of Postal Operations. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, where he served as a former chairman of the Board of Deacons and later as a Trustee. He also was a member of the Gideon International, Hart County Camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans, a volunteer for The Salvation Army and a former Boy Scout Master. Mr. Hubbard was a US Army Reserve Veteran.
Mr. Hubbard was a lifelong resident of Hartwell and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was widely known for his kindness, personal integrity and as a dedicated Christian man.
Survivors include his two sons: Bill Hubbard (Gail) of Hartwell, and Mike Hubbard (Susan) of Auburn AL; two grandsons: Clayte Hubbard (Maggie) and Riley Hubbard of Auburn AL. Mr. Hubbard was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years: Rheba Cordell Hubbard; three brothers: O.M. Hubbard, George Hubbard, Layman Hubbard; two sisters: Betty Crump and Inez Hubbard.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.
Funeral services for Mr. William Hubbard will be Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Carter Tucker and Dr. Stuart Lang officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Hartwell, 81 E. Howell Street, Hartwell, GA 30643.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
