William Lane "Bill" Huckabay died on January 11, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. He always kept a positive attitude and his sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. Bill was born on December 31, 1940 in Clovis New Mexico to William Lane "Huck" Huckabay II and Peggy Crane Huckabay. He lived most of his childhood years at the Sais Crusher located between Belen and Mountainair NM and attended school in both school systems. He moved to Clovis, NM his senior year and graduated from Clovis High School where he met and married Vivienne Andrews Huckabay. They had two children. He worked for the Sunshine Bakery in Santa Fe in sales and then Sears in Albuquerque. He divorced and moved to Kansas City, KS, then Aurora, CO, and later Rifle, CO. He followed his heart back to the Albuquerque area in 1995. He ran into an old school mate, Adele Dykers Thompson and fell in love. Bill and Adele had ten wonderful years together with her children and grandchildren. Bill never met a stranger and loved people. He made it a point to find out the names and important information of everyone around him. He always remembered the information and was interested in everyone's joys and sorrows. He was a Mason and was a member of many different lodges during his lifetime. He served as the Master of the Zia Daylight Lodge for the year of 2003. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his son William "Lane" Huckabay IV; nephew, Kent Chesney and grandson, Nick Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Adele, her three children, Marty, Bobby and Stephanie; grandchildren, David, Jesse, Sarah, Danny, Madison and Chloe: his sister Ruth Chesney and nephew Bryant and his daughter Alicia Huckabay: his brother-in-law and business partner, Marty Dykers and many wonderful cousins brothers and sisters-in law, nieces, nephews and their extended families. A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at French - University.
