Very stern but great educator. Kept me from going down the wrong path on many occasions. You will be missed Mr Johnson.

I worked with Bill at WHS for the last ten years of his career. He came across as tough but he was fair and cared about students and staff. in recent years, I had the joy of running into Bill at UConn Women's basketball games including sitting next to him for one season when we chatted about the "old days." He was such a good, kind hearted man with a great laugh. I feel fortunate that UConn sat me next to him so i could spend time with him. I am sorry for your loss. Lenny Vann

Bill left an indelible mark on Windsor High School and on the Town of Windsor. Untold numbers of students and more than a few faculty members will remember Wild Bill Johnson striding the halls of Windsor High with his clipboard in hand to make sure he didn't forget a thing!
Those of us who knew him as a friend will remember the wonderful dinner parties Bill & Helen gave at their home on Windsor Avenue.
And Charlie & I have fond memories of Bill & Helen spending time with us at our home on Cape Cod, where on their first visit Bill even helped to paint the window frames of our then brand new home in Wellfleet. Bill was always ready to lend a hand wherever it was needed.
My condolences to Scott, Chris, and Karen and their families, who will certainly miss their dad/grandfather, but will also celebrate his life of accomplishment and devotion to family, knowing that he is now at peace in a better place.

Bill's children: you don't remember me but I've known your mom and dad since Helen and I were in high school. Helen took care of my son Mike when I went back to work. If you think carefully Scott, you may remember you and Mike using the top bar of your swing set as a balance bar. I always stayed in touch with your parents, right thru last Christmas. I knew Bill had a new address and hoped to contact him about it because we are thinking of moving back to CT. Your Dad even visited us in Florida one winter and the 3 of us got together with Irene Tomilonis and her husband. I loved your parents and really am sad to think they're both gone. They were both wonderful human beings. Janet Graywacz Menard Lewin

What memories! Bill taught me a lot early in my career. Often, I didn't fully appreciate what he was telling me at the time, but as I matured, I came to realize how many times he was right. Firm, fair, no games, a straight shooter -- a good man.

I've lost such a dear friend. Bill, you will be missed. So many memories of our years together. A true, strong family man. I was always welcomed into your lovely home on Windsor Avenue for great conversation and a laugh or two or three. I know you and Helen are together once again. My thoughts and prayers go out to all in the Johnson family.

I remember "Wild Bill" Johnson very well. He was Vice-Principal during my years at WHS Sept 1970 - June 1973. He was a very fair man, and he kept us in line. He always listened to what you had to say, and never took sides or made his decision until he heard the whole story. He was a great man. My condolences go out to his family.

Wild Bill Johnson was a true mentor and friend. He always showed respect to students, therefore gaining respect in return. Last time I saw him was at Mason Hall eating lobster with his daughter and friends. We chatted like it was 1973 remembering stories as if they happened yesterday. We also have the side connection of being mutual friends with our old neighbors the Tomilonisies. (sp?) from White Rock Drive. Richie, was my little bud friend who I haven't seen in over 40 years. Every time we saw Bill he would bring him up in the discussion. He loved him very much. Bill was old school without being stuffy. Looking back....... a breath of fresh air. I loved Wild Bill Johnson for who he was. There is no sympathy needed here. Everyone needs to celebrate his life. He is in a good place now.

Getting in trouble you never wanted to get sent to the office see Mr. Johnson. I had fear and anger an always thought . Give me a break. What I got was a fear punishment to fit the crime. Then as a senior a tragedy occurred in my family and then I saw in Mr. Johnson as a kind generous and fair man. I admired him and it turned my situation from bad to good. My condolences to his family.
