William R. "Bill" Johnston, Sr.

William (Bill) R. Johnston, Sr., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, born on November 29, 1928 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to the late Margaret Johnston and the late Jack Johnston and passed away at age 89 on September 17, 2018 in Orange Park, Florida. Bill served in the Air Force from 1947 to 1967 and was in the Korean War. He was a pilot at Mohawk Rubber Company and at Pentastar Aviation until retiring in 1992. Bill was the beloved husband of the late LaVonne C. Johnston. He was preceded in death by his son, William R. Johnston, Jr.; sister, June Johnston; and his beloved dog, Maggie. Bill is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline Johnston Sheppard and Jo Johnston; his sons Douglas A. Johnston and Bryant D. Johnston; and grandchildren, Lindsay (Nic), Carly (Joe), Allie, Sam (Sam), Josh and great-grandchildren Kylie, Olivia and Carter. He enjoyed shooting skeet, contract bridge, and loved cooking for his family and friends.
