American lost a true champion on December 16. Judge Bill Knox was:
* a patriot and principled man of faith
* a loving husband to my sister Kay
* a devoted Dad to the children entrusted to his care
* a dedicated son-in-law to our parents Walter and Ellen
* a gourmet chef and entertainer of all visitors
* an exemplary teacher of the law to lay people and law students alike
* a skilled skipper of watercraft large and small on lakes, rivers, and oceans of all descriptions
* an appreciator and creator of music
* an outdoorsman who taught family and friends hunting and fishing
* an athlete who loved ice hockey and downhill skiing
He did so many things well, while being careful not to overshadow others. He always tried to leave things in better shape than he found them.
His exhortation to those called to jury duty is truly unforgettable: "Consider how you would feel if you were wrongly accused of a crime, and the only people on your jury were those not smart enough to avoid jury duty..."
We will miss him dearly.
