William David Lambertson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 17, 2025, in Holmdel, NJ, at the age of 81. Born on November 17,1943, in Newark, NJ, William grew into a kind and spirited soul who would leave an indelible mark on the lives of those he touched.
William's life was one of service and dedication. In 1962, he proudly entered the United States Air Force, where he received valuable training and education that would shape his character and influence his worldview. After serving his country with honor, William returned to his roots in Hazlet, NJ, and in 1968 married the love of his life, Lucille. Together, they built a nurturing life in Matawan, NJ, where they welcomed their two sons, William John and Joseph Carmen, raising them with the same values of love and commitment that defined William's character.
A proud member of the Teamsters Union locals #701 and #469, William's work ethic and unwavering loyalty were admired by all who had the privilege to work alongside him. He retired in 2000, leaving behind a legacy of diligence, camaraderie, and respect for future generations to emulate.
William served as the president of Lambertson's Landscaping Inc., a family-owned business that became a cornerstone of the community. Under his leadership and with the dedication of his two sons, the company grew into a widely respected and successful enterprise. William took immense pride in watching the business flourish, a lasting testament to the hard work, dedication, and family values he cherished.
Beyond his professional life, William was an avid outdoorsman with an irrepressible love for nature. He found great joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his sons - moments he cherished deeply. He and Lucille also shared a love for travel, creating lifelong memories as they explored the world together.
William's adventurous spirit was matched by his love of simple pleasures. He was a passionate card player, a casino enthusiast, and an unwavering fan of NASCAR. These interests fostered friendships and a sense of community that William highly valued throughout his life.
Most of all, William's grandchildren - Kacey, Christopher (his only and #1 grandson), Kelly, Emma, and Julia Lambertson - were the source of immeasurable pride and joy. Their accomplishments, particularly in sports, were celebrated with William's supportive presence, cheering on from the sidelines, always their number one fan.
William's gentle, easy-going nature made him beloved by all who knew him. He lived with kindness, patience, and understanding, quietly embodying the values he held dear.
A man of faith, William was also a parishioner at St. Clement Church in Matawan.
William is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Lucille Lambertson of Matawan, NJ; his sons, William John Lambertson and his wife Joan, Joseph Carmen Lambertson and his wife Jennifer, all of Matawan, NJ; and his adored grandchildren, who will carry his legacy forward with each step they take. He is predeceased by his mother, Flosie Lambertson.
In William's passing, we bid farewell to a man who was the epitome of a life well-lived. His unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community will forever be remembered and celebrated. William's story is a tapestry woven with threads of love, service, and the sheer joy of existence - one that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
