This was my Papa and he died when I was 4 years old.I knew my papa as someone who took me on fishing trips and ate orange creamsicles together in the living room watching cartoons. My Papa was always there for my mom and my whole family. When my Papa lost his life battling cancer a part of my whole bloodline died.I will never forget this moment when it was one of the last times I saw my Papa he was very ill and was in bed and I leaned over a kissed him on the forehead.I remember my mom telling me a story about him going to Nam it was when he hit a giant with the end of a pool stick when he tried to do it first with the skinny side but my Papa knew he was not doing it right so he grabbed the same stick and hit the guy with the heavy end.Me and my family can't live without him he was the best part of our lives. We will forever miss you Papa rest in peace.

Uncle Billy,

It will have been three years since you have passed this upcoming December. I cannot believe it. The last time I saw you, I was a lively 13-year-old, visiting my family back in Illinois all the way from Texas!. You tucked my hair behind my ears, told me you were happy to see me, and then proceeded to gush to my parents about how beautiful I was and how old I was getting. This is just who you were. You were a wonderful, wonderful man.
Words cannot express the sorrow your loss has brought our family, but we are all being strong for you. I know that is what you would have wanted.
I think about a certain memory of you all the time. I was sitting on your lap, and I could not have been more than six year since old. I was in a cranky mood for whatever reason, but that did not stop you from trying to cheer me up. You bounced me on your knee and proceeded to say, Look at how beautiful you are, Ava! How did you get so beautiful?
Thats just who you were. You loved to make people happy. You were a brave man, a veteran, who absolutely adored his family.
Your grandkids are doing really really well, but Im sure you already know. Penny is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, and Kim is expecting a baby girl soon! Marchetti girls are the BEST, but you already knew that. I ask that you protect them and continue to watch over Kim. All of the kiddos are so big now, its unbelievable. I know you are watching over them, and I know you would be so proud.

If you dont mind, please give my Gaga a BIG BIG hug for me! Auntie Char too!!

I love you so much, and I miss you everyday.

Your niece,
Ava Michele

Some of my earliest recollections are of Uncle Billy. I remember sitting at the kitchen table with my mom and we were either writing a letter to Uncle Billy or reading a letter he sent us when he was in the Army. I must have been around 5 years old. For some reason I remember distinct details, too, like how the sun was shining so brightly in the window of the back door. I remember the letter was in an envelope with red, white and blue trim. I wish I knew where that letter was now. I also remember going to the airport with Grandpa and Michele to pick him up. I remember him riding his motorcycle. I remember playing in his room at Auntie Nancy's house with my cousins while he was away. It was a little brick cellar of a room with a little window. It was like a cool hide-out. The word "groovy" comes to mind when I think about it. I remember how he proposed to Auntie Linda. I remember going to the church for their wedding. I remember babysitting for Deanna, Billy & Anthony. I remember hearing all the stories told by his brother and sisters of how he was "the baby" and "mama's favorite". And later I remember his devotion to his kids and all of their sports and activities. I remember when Uncle Billy first started restoring that car and when he finished it. I remember his love of fishing and how he took my Frankie fishing to one of the many ponds he frequented. I remember how involved in the VFW he was and how dedicated he was to that cause. I remember him becoming a grandfather seven times over and seeing what joy that brought him. I will go on remembering his unique laugh, the way he would tell a story and how bravely he fought to the end. I know we will recall these stories and more at the family gatherings as he lives on in all of our hearts.

Dear Linda and family,
We are so sorry to hear of Billy's passing. Truly a wonderful guy that Bruce has known through Frank since their early teen years - about 53 years ago when Frank moved to Addison. They had many good memories as teenagers.
It was nice for Bruce to reconnect with Billy when we moved back to Illinois. Oh the laughs Frank, Billy and Bruce had together. Good times.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Linda & family. God has welcomed Billy with open arms!

Billy was a spark plug that kept the engine of VFW Post 2838 revved up and running strong. His energy and enthusiasm for country and family were boundless. Linda, your dedicated care of Bill was a loving example for all of us. Our comrade brother will be dearly missed.

Linda and family: our condolences to you and all of yours on Bill's passing. We'll remember him fondly as just a great guy, actively-involved in the Darien community and always a class act with a good word for anybody at anytime. I'll always remember his extensive involvement in scouting with my sons and the fun we had (along with alot of hard work!) in founding in-line hockey as a DYC sport back in the 90s. He'll be greatly missed by all of us who had the pleasure and privilige to have known him. Cherish all the wonderful memories I'm sure you have and may God grant you comfort at this difficult time.

Of all of the fond memories I have there seem to be one that keeps coming to mind. I'm not sure why.

When I was little I had a slot car set. I remember Billy playing with it at our house and spilling some beer on the track. I asked him if he wanted me to wipe it off and he said..."Nah, it's like a hazard now!"

It may have been awhile since I've seen you, but the memories last forever.
