William Masden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - East Louisville on Mar. 27, 2024.
William "Bill" Ernest Masden Sr., 82 passed away March 23rd, 2024, in Summerfield Florida. He was born December 8th, 1941, in Louisville Ky and was the youngest of four siblings. He grew up in the Highland Park area and moved to Fairdale after marrying the love of his life Donna on June 4th, 1962.
They had two children, William E. Masden Jr. and Christa L. Masden: one granddaughter Shannon Noelle Masden. Bill was a true family man and loved being a husband, father, and papaw. Nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family.
At eighteen Bill started his lifetime career as a foreman at Mother's Cookie Company, became the production manager and retired after 40+ years. Upon retirement he moved to The Villages Florida and enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends. He even achieved a couple hole in ones along the way.
Bill enjoyed volunteering in his community as a volunteer firefighter in Fairdale and a Citizens Patrol officer In Florida for the Marion County Sherifs Department.
Bill spent a lot of time at the ballpark over several decades from coaching, attending baseball and softball games and traveling on weekends to support his daughter. He was her biggest fan!
His Kind, loving and witty personality was unforgettable to anyone who knew him. His sense of humor was full of dad jokes and idioms. When he smiled the whole world smiled back.
Bill was selfless and would help anyone with anything. He was known as Mr. Fix It and always had the right tools, materials, and knowledge to tackle any project. There is a sign in his garage that reads "If I don't have it, then you don't need it."
Anyone who knew Bill knew that he was the most loving father and spouse a family could ask for.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Otis Masden Sr., and Minnie Masden; wife Donna Jean Masden; son William (Billy) E. Masden Jr; brother Otis Masden Jr who went by Junior; and sister Venal Bickett.
He is survived and will be missed by his loving daughter Christa L. Masden (Terry), granddaughter Shannon Noelle Masden, sister Sylvia Decker, friend Penny Haseker (Ron), who was loved as a daughter, Brother in laws Johnny Stallard (Tammy) and Edward Stallard (Sandy), Sister-in-law Linda Cassidy (Jim) and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Monday, April 1st, 2024, at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, East Louisville, 12900 Shelbyville Road.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, at 10am at the funeral home, with visitation starting at 9am until time of funeral.

One of my first memories of Uncle Billy was when I was about eight and he was 16, I found out I couldn´t marry him. I thought he was a dreamboat. He was one of the kindest people I´ve ever known. He welcomed everyone with a smile and a hug. When I moved to Florida, he took me under his wing and helped me anyway he could. I will miss him. The world has lost one of its finest.

I have wonderful memories of growing up with Billy. He was my uncle, but I always thought of him as a big brother. I remember him when he was in his teens. I thought he was so cool. (Kinda like the Fonz). I didn´t see him much after he and Donna moved to Florida, but I know they were living the dream. I take comfort in knowing they are together again.
Billy and Donna a beautiful Love story.
