William Chester Mason, 77, of White Hall, Maryland formerly of White Marsh and Dundalk, passed away on March 19, 2023, after an illness.
Known as Bill to customers and Chester to his family, Babe to his wife, and as Dad to three, Bill was born on September 17, 1945 to Chester and Lillian Mason on School Avenue in Dundalk, Maryland. Bill graduated from Dundalk Senior High School in 1964.
After graduation, he proudly served as a Sergeant in the US Army and was deployed to Korea. After his return from Korea, Bill worked at Bethlehem Steel before joining his father in business at Standard Heating and Air Conditioning on Holabird Avenue. Bill loved the Dundalk community, his customers, and business partners. After retirement, he continued to enthusiastically patronize Dundalk businesses.
Bill married Patricia Borkowski in 1985, and they are parents to Heather Mason (Geoffrey Corb), Michael Mason, and Melissa Mason (Craig Morsberger). Bill and Patty were happily married for 37 years. They lovingly raised their family in White Marsh and White Hall, enjoyed spending time with a close group of friends, and traveling the world.
In 2018, Bill retired and spent his time catching up with friends on Facebook, watching Fox News, splitting wood, riding the lawn tractor, blowing leaves, catching snakes, birdwatching, cheering the Ravens and Maryland basketball, and serving as a mentor to other HVAC small businessmen.
Bill was predeceased by his parents and youngest sister, Gayle Mason Sherman, and four much loved Bernese Mountain Dogs. He is survived by his wife, children, their spouses, his sister Lillian; his dog Denali; his grand-dog Remy; and four grand-cats.
A service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Grace Fellowship Church - 9505 Deereco Road, Timonium, MD 21093.
