William T. "Bill" McDowell , 62, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at his residence in Wolcottville. Born in Fort Wayne, Bill was a senior systems analyst with IBM retiring in 2011. He enjoyed fishing, nature, bird watching and had a passion for the National Parks, but most importantly loved his sons and family. Surviving are his sons, Scott (Tammy) McDowell and Ryan (Stephani) McDowell, mother, Phyllis Clifton all of Fort Wayne, sister, Debra (Dennis) Ahlersmeyer of Avilla, grandchildren, Micaela and Gabe and companion, Sharon Edwards of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his father, Columbus McDowell and 2 brothers. Service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at CrossPointe Family Church of the Nazarene, 205 HighPointe Crossing, Kendallville, with Rev. Rich Secor officiating, calling 1 hour prior at church. Calling also 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m Monday at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m Tues at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the Friendship Food Pantry. To sign the online guest book, go to www.mccombandsons.com.

To Mr. McDowell's families...during his brief but energetic participation at the Friendship Food Pantry it was obvious Bill was ready and willing to help others who need a lift in their lives. It was a pleasure to "work" with him as he made sure the shelves were organized and stocked, products ready for the clients to choose as well as picking up and delivering items from the Food Bank for our pantry...and with a jolly spirit, if not a twinkle in his eye. A gentleman and new friend whose life surely will be remembered well. Judy Kessler
