WILLIAM HENRY "BILL" MCKENNA

William "Bill" Henry McKenna III, age 72, lifelong resident of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling Hospital. Bill was born on July 15, 1953, in Mt. Sterling to the late Dr. William and Mary Margaret Myers McKenna. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, whose life was defined by his faith, service, integrity and deep roots in Montgomery County. Bill served as President of Community Trust Bank for many years where he genuinely cared for the people he worked with and served. Beyond his career, Bill was engaged in many areas of community service including the city council and Rotary Club. He had strong ties to and a passion for strengthening the agricultural community. Bill was also well known on the golf course. While he enjoyed the competition of the sport, the fun and fellowship meant more to him. Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Elaine Richards McKenna; his daughter Blair (Austin) Lanzarone of Weatherford, TX; 1 grandson Mac Lanzarone; 2 brothers Mark (Cindy) McKenna of Mt. Sterling and Dave (Lesia) McKenna of Hillsboro, OH; 1 sister Katy (Tommy) Breeze of Lexington, KY; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be Monday, March 16th at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until time of service at 1:00 pm. 125 W. Main Street, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353
