Mr. William Gaston "Weed Hopper" Monroe, Sr., 76 of Tar Heel, NC was born September 22, 1945 in Bladen Co., NC to the late Mr. Howard C. and Berline S. Monroe and departed this life at his residence surrounded by his loving family, April 17, 2022.
In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Lynn Monroe; a grandson, Dakota Earl Monroe; one sister, Mary Burrington and one brother, George Monroe.
William leaves to cherish his memories and mourn his passing his son, Gaston Monroe (Mandy) of Tar Heel; three daughters, Renee Walters (David) of Tar Heel, Jessica Hunt (Randall) of St. Pauls and Morgan Monroe of Tolarsville; two special sons, Darryl Roberts of Shallotte and Daniel Camerino of White Oak; one brother, Buck Monroe (Linda) of Tar Heel; two sisters, Ann Nunnery (Larry) of Tar Heel and Linda DeVane (Vernon) of White Oak; 19 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. William also leaves behind a very special caregiver who stood by his side through his hardest days, his grandson Marcus Storms and a host of other relatives and friends.
Daddy had many friends, nieces and nephews that he loved very much. He enjoyed NASCAR, Drag Racing, and watching Westerns on television. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, cooking out with friends and being with his church family. His memory will live on through his family and friends, as they remember the many fun times they shared.
