William D. "Bill" Mullin, 66, a cherished husband, dedicated emergency services professional, and beloved community member, passed away suddenly at his home in Northampton on Wednesday November 26, 2025. Born in Tamaqua, to the late William J. and Charlotte I. (Moyer) Mullin, Bill's life was a testament to service, family, and passion.
Bill grew up in the close-knit community of Tamaqua and graduated from Tamaqua High School in the Class of '78. It was there that he discovered his love for broadcast communications, a skill that would later complement his remarkable career in emergency medical services (EMS).
For over three decades, Bill was a staple in EMS for the greater Carbon County area, dedicating his life to emergency services. His commitment extended beyond the call of duty as he served as an EMT and volunteer firefighter in Palmerton, Klecknersville, and the Lehighton Ambulance Assoc. In these roles, he was not only a first responder but also an educator, mentor, and friend to countless individuals. At Lehighton, he served as the EMT Course Coordinator, Safety Committee Chairperson, CPR instructor, National Traffic Incident Management Instructor and was also a member of the National Assoc. of Emergency Medical Technicians. Bill left an unforgettable mark on the profession, working tirelessly to record the history of EMS in the region and ensuring the safety and education of his colleagues.
A man of many interests, Bill was an avid sports fan, loyally supporting Penn State, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His enthusiasm for NASCAR was matched only by his love of grilling, where he could often be found cooking up a storm for family and friends. Bill's passion for music, especially the Beatles, was a thread that ran through his life, as was his love for the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises. The TV show "Emergency" held a special place in his heart, as it inspired his career choice and lifelong dedication to helping others as an EMT.
Survivors: Bill's love for his wife, Judy L. (Vincent) Mullin, was evident in their 20 years of marriage. Together, they created a loving home in Northampton, filled with joy, laughter. He is also sadly missed by his daughter, Erika Anspach and her husband David of Tremont, his sister Dianne French of Hazleton, many nieces and nephews and his four cats. Bill was predeceased by his sister, Linda Blakeslee.
Service: A celebration of Life will be held on Friday Dec. 5, 2025 at 1:30 PM at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St. Bethlehem, PA 18018, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 12:30 PM until the time of the service. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to the American Heart Assoc., 4250 Crums Mill Rd, Ste 100, Harrisburg, PA 17112 and/or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023
