William G. Nelson

I worked with Mr. Nelson at St. Lawrence for many years. He did so many quiet heart-warming acts of kindness for his teachers and staff. One act that touched me deep in my core was when he fixed a music box that sat on my desk. It was special to me and my students had been messing around and broke it. He overheard me tell another teacher about it and then he must have seen me throw it away. The next morning my music box was on my desk all fixed. I can't imagine how long it took him to meticulously glue all those pieces back together. I will never forget that amazing act of kindness. Mr. Nelson will be greatly missed.

We went to see Bill and Mary Jo a little while back in their new home. I have never seen Bill happier and more content than he was then. We sat out on his porch and he talked about the geese that walked right up to him in the morning and had a converse with him. He was a friend of almost 50 years that will be missed. May God welcome him into his beautiful garden.
