William "Bill" L. Nicholas, age 84, a longtime resident of Sylvania, OH passed away on March 25, 2026. He was born in Mt. Calvary, WI to Garland and Julia (Pinkelman) Nicholas on September 3, 1941.

Bill served in the United States Army for 2 years from 1963 until 1965 in Jackson, SC. He was a self-employed industrial machine repairman for over 40 years, retiring in 2004. He was a charter member of the Sylvania Moose Lodge and volunteered there for many years and served as a Boy Scout Master. He was also a member of Joseph E Diehm Post American legion, past president of the Sylvania Jaycees and volunteered as a Sylvania fireman for 15 years. Bill was an avid buckeye fan.

Bill is survived by his stepdaughter, Terri Prim; sister, Delores (Bruce) Nearhood; brother, Dale (Mary); nephews, Jason (Allison) Nicholas, Curtiss (Charlene) Nicholas, Larry (Diane) Nearhood, Rodney (Dawn) Nearhood, and David (Marlene) Nearhood and 3 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; stepdaughter, Debra Schadler and stepson, Charles Bair.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 6, 2026 from 10:00 am until the service begins at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Toledo Humane Society.
