William W. "Bill" Noll, 100, of Fayeteville, PA passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 in his home. Born February 16, 1923 in Pond Bank, PA he was the son of the late Harry Noll, Sr. and Clara (West) Noll.
Prior to serving as a combat engineer with the United States Army during World War II, Bill worked as a contractor building the first igloos in 1942. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he went to work at a sawmill for a few years. In 1947 Bill began his career at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring as a shipping supervisor in 1975.
Bill was a member of Pond Bank Independent Church, AARP, and the American Legion Post 46. He was an avid deer hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Knepper) Noll who he married August 16, 1991; a son, William W. Noll, Jr. and his wife Barb; two granddaughters, Amy Shively and her husband Jim and Lisa White and her husband Jamie; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Payton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Harry Noll, Jr., Betty Rock, Kathleen Wolff, Elsie Cramer, Hazel Gsell, and Mary Cook.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 23, 2023 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Chaplain Tim Brown officiating. Interment will be held 1:30 P.M. Wednesday afternoon in the Center Church Cemetery, 3195 Doran Road, Waterfall, PA 16689.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday morning in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pond Bank Independent Church, 6704 White Rock Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
