Bill Northrup and I were first cousins - two of the 13 grandchildren of John and Jennie Northrup who owned a farm in southern Steuben County. Their farm was not far from either Bill´s childhood home or Northrup Hill Cemetery where his ashes will be buried. Bill´s family and mine saw each other regularly when we were children, and I always looked forward to their visits. About a decade ago the 11 living first cousins decided to have annual weekend reunions in southern Steuben County. A dinner hosted by Bill and his sister Cheryl at her summer home was a memorable part of these reunions. Bill searched the nearby woods for edible plants to make the dinner menu unique. In the summer of 2024 Bill visited me at my home in Albany, NY - the last time I saw him. After Bill returned to Tennessee, we exchanged regular text messages. Even though he was having health issues, his messages were always upbeat. My cousin Bill will be missed!
