William Frank "Bill" Nunes
Jacksonville - William Frank "Bill" Nunes, 98 of Jacksonville, passed away Monday night, October 20, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 7, 1927, in Jacksonville the son of Frank and Dorothy Allen Nunes. He married June Loughary on May 4, 1946, and she preceded him in death on March 6, 2010. He is survived by his long-time companion, Pat Little.
Bill is survived by three daughters, Connie (husband, Neil) Mueller of Bluffs, Karen Ladely, (companion Stuart Splain, deceased) of South Jacksonville, Paula (husband, Henry) Beckman of Jacksonville Deceased); one son, Charles (Chuck) (wife, Kim) Nunes of New London, Missouri; a niece who had lived in his home, Lynnette (husband, Dan) Parson of Macomb (both deceased); seven grandchildren; Jeff Mueller, Troy Mcade, Gina Rosenberger, Gera Martin, Cheryl Bauser, Jenny Buchanan and Andy Nunes. Bill has 10 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Charlie Nunes and three sisters, Harriett Printy, Mary Bryant, and Mae Couch.
Bill served in the United States Army. Following his service, he returned home to begin a 55-year career with Freesen Inc. as a construction superintendent. Bill was an avid fisherman and was a dedicated "Winter Texan". Bill took pride in being one of the best heavy equipment operators in the area. He was also a member of Local Operators Union #965. Bill was a member of Bluffs United Methodist Church and later attended Wesley Chapel Church in Jacksonville.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Lincoln Land Honor Flight, Concord Cemetery, or donor's choice. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
