William C. “Bill” Oliver, 77, of Sabin, MN passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.
Bill was born in Reno, Nevada on July 23, 1948, to Charley and Georgeann (Svoboda) Oliver. He grew up in Carson City, Nevada and graduated from Carson City High School.
After graduation Bill enlisted in the US Air Force. In December of 1967 Bill met Muriel Johnk in Las Vegas, Nevada and the couple was married on May 18, 1968, in Carson City, Nevada. Following his discharge from the USAF in 1970 he worked for Myers Hardware Store in Carson City, Nevada. In February of 1971 Bill and Muriel’s daughter Michelle was born. In 1972 the Olivers moved to Minnesota and made their home in Sabin, MN. Bill accepted a position with Pan of Gold Bakery where he was a route salesman for 30 years until his retirement. Never one to sit still, Bill went back to work for Sanford Health in Fargo for a time. He also worked in Sugar beet research and later Bloomfields Nursery in Sabin.
Bill was a generous man with his time and talents and was never one to say “no” if someone needed a hand. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake sipping on a good cup of coffee and the Christmas season was his favorite time of the year.
Bill is survived by his wife, Muriel, Sabin, MN; daughter, Michelle (Jon) Valenta, Detroit Lakes, MN; sister-in-law, Rebecca (Donald) Hoppe, Moorhead, MN; nieces, Sally Brown, Carson City, NV, Christine Lund, Reno, NV, and Virginia (Carl) Young, Chalis, ID; as well as special people in his life, Courtney (Joshua) Lincoln and Jaxson Muellner, and Nina Adams.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
