William (Bill) Columbus Orr III
1940 – 2025

William (Bill) Columbus Orr went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 after a 3 month struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Amarillo, Texas, to Dorothy Boyd Orr and WC Orr Jr., Bill's early years were shaped by the return to his family's hometown of Denton, where he spent his childhood exploring the woods north of Greenwood Street, fishing, and hunting with friends.

A graduate of Denton public schools, Bill went on to earn a degree in banking and finance from North Texas State University. His professional career began as a bank examiner, before following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather as an executive officer at First State Bank of Denton. From 1967 to 1989, Bill helped countless families and businesses put down roots, grow, and thrive. His genuine care for people and his gift for connection made those years deeply rewarding-not only for the community he served, but for the many co-workers who became lifelong friends.

From 1989 until 2005 Bill served as CFO at Alan Ritchey, Inc., before becoming a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser with Gage and Associates before officially retiring in 2025.

In 1968 he married Kathleen Frederickson and they had two daughters, Peyton and Elisha. Following their divorce in the early 1980's, he married Darien Moses in 1988 and had two more children, William and Hartlee.

Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Darien; four children and their spouses, Peyton and Jason Swick, Elisha and Luke Bomar, William and Shelbi Orr, Hartlee and Jordan Kirk, and grandchildren Jonas, Caroline and Jack Swick; Brody and Briggs Bomar; Jolene Orr; Anderson, Dorothy, Billy, Pearl and Gus Kirk, as well as many cousins and much-loved extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother James Orr.

Bill's legacy is one of service, friendship, and steadfast dedication to God and his family. He will be remembered for his warm personality, fabulous sense of humor, and the way he always put others before himself.

On Monday, October 6th, at 3 PM Bill's funeral service will be held at Denton Bible Church officiated by Tommy Nelson, with visitation beforehand from 2 to 2:50. Private burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hearts for Homes, a ministry Bill supported that helps low income seniors in Denton maintain and remain in their homes.
