William "Bill" Dean Parkhurst, 94, died February 25, 2025, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. He was born December 12, 1930, in Tryon, Oklahoma, to Euel Ivis and Mable (Miller) Parkhurst.
Bill attended Castleton High School, Castleton, KS. In 1949, he joined the United States Army and bravely fought in the Korean War. He worked for FOY Construction Company, Hutchinson and as a maintenance operator for Grant Township, eventually retiring in 2009.
Bill enjoyed woodworking, dancing, and on early mornings, having coffee with friends. But his absolute favorite thing was, creating memories with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On June 6, 1953, he married Glenda Arlene Harden, in Hutchinson. They shared over 43 years of marriage, prior to her death on September 20, 1996.
Bill is survived by: his children, Rodney (Cheryl) Parkhurst of Buhler; Steve (Madeline) Parkhurst of Halstead; and Marsha (Kevin) Allam of Wichita; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Glenda; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family present to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Gentiva Hospice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
