William Otto Penkert

William O. Penkert, age 74, of Nicollet, died on Monday, December 30, 2024 at his home. 

Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 on Monday at Northview. Interment will be at Minneopa Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). 

Bill was born on May 27, 1950 in New Ulm, MN to Elmer and Louise (Zins) Penkert. He graduated from New Ulm Cathedral High School. Bill served in the United States Army. He enjoyed driving truck and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Bill also enjoyed woodworking, cutting firewood and gardening. 

Bill is survived by his significant other, Sharon Heck; children, Marcia (Kerry) Koepp, Dan (Kelly) Penkert, and Pete (Shae) Penkert; grandchildren, Alex, Austin, Jared, Rachel, Rilee, Jake, and Regan; siblings, Joanne Schugel, Tom (Carol) Penkert, Judy Alfred, Mary Forst, and Patty (Roger) Beranek; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Eugene Schugel, Myron Alfred, and George Forst.
