In Loving Memory of William Conrad Peters Jr.
June 22, 1955 – October 13, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William (Will) Conrad Peters Jr, who went home to Heaven on October 13, 2025, after a brave battle with a stroke and organ failure. He passed peacefully in the loving arms of his sweetheart and wife of 44 years, Maria Peters (Fletes). He will be deeply missed.
Will was born on June 22, 1955. At 18, he entered the U.S. Army and spent several years stationed in Korea and later in Oklahoma. During his service, he developed a strong skillset in diesel engines and machinery. Upon returning home, he noticed that the girl next door had grown up-and was beautiful. After a whirlwind romance, he and Maria were married in 1981 at the Little Shasta Chapel.
In the good years that followed, they were blessed with two handsome sons. Over the years, Will worked as a Commercial Pork producer, managing the Yreka Transit Mix and worked for J.F. Shea Asphalt.
He was known for his total integrity, his words and handshake were as binding as any contract.
Will loved tinkering in his shop, inventing and building whatever he needed. He always had a loyal dog by his side, but in later years, he and Maria's dog, Lola, formed a truly special bond-one that could only be described as soulmates.
Will's dry humor kept everyone on their toes. He absolutely adored his granddaughters and took great joy in watching them play. A man of principle, he never participated in gossip or speaking ill of others, always honoring his wife, family, and himself.
He served his community as a 4-H leader and volunteered with the Junior Livestock Auction Committee and the Resource Conservation District.
Will's "happy place" was his beloved cabin in the woods, where he was truly in his element. Ever the craftsman, he even built a small sawmill and log pond to cut his own lumber. Friends often helped him, but Will always had a plan for what to build next.
Above all, Will was a family man. Nothing was more important to him. He was endlessly proud of his sons and granddaughters and loved to brag about them at every opportunity.
Will is survived by his loving wife, Maria Peters, of 44 wonderful years; and his two sons: William (Bill) Conrad Peters III and wife Wendy, with granddaughters Ava and Jada Peters; and Michael Conrad Peters and wife Stacy, with granddaughters Kendra Carlson, Kylie, and Hannah Peters. He is also survived by his brother Hans Conrad Peters and wife Debbie; sisters Julie Peters Eversole and husband Kenn and Lynn D Peters Enright; his sister by-marriage, Lisa Fletes, and brothers by-marriage Arthur, Henry, Albert and Jose Fletes; as well as cousins Tom Peters and Dale Belyea and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Will was preceded in death by loving parents, Bill and Lynn Peters and loving parents-by marriage Alberto and Stella Fletes and lastly, a good brother-by-marriage, Benjamin Fletes.
A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
The Memorial Service will take place at Girdner's Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life and potluck gathering at the Montague Community Hall.
