Obituary published on Legacy.com by All County Funeral Home & Crematory - Treasure Coast Chapel on Mar. 11, 2026.
William "Bill" Petersen, Jr, 84, of Hobe Sound FL, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026 in the care of Hospice.

Originally from Oakhurst, NJ, Bill moved to Lake Park, FL in 1974 with his wife, Linda, and children Scott and Lisa. After retirement, he and Linda moved to Hobe Sound, FL.

He pursued his passion with a career in law enforcement, working for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office, Palm Beach Gardens police force, then in Lake Park as Detective Sergeant, earning many honors.

Bill left the police department to join Florida Power and Light, at the Riviera Beach power plant, until retirement.

Over the years he was active with Boy Scout Troop 100 in Lake Park. He also had a love for tinkering with computers. He and Linda loved cruising, especially in the Caribbean, and they were Diamond Club members with Royal Caribbean cruiseline.

Bill took pride in the Sugar Sands community that he lived in, dedicating his time to taking care of the community directory, monthly newsletter, along with other good deeds and making lifelong friends along the way.

Bill was predeceased by his wife, Linda, of whom was married to over 58 years. He is survived by their son William Scott Petersen (Linda), daughter Lisa Rhodes (Charlie) and grandson, Ben Rhodes.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions, in William Petersen's memory, be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997.
