William Louis Pettis Eulogy

Willy,

Thank you all for coming to celebrate my son William Louis Pettis's life and to provide support to my family. I hope most of you have had the pleasure of meeting him. He was an intelligent, kind and gentle young man whom we loved very much.

Many people found him to be quiet and polite which was very true. My first encounter with my boy was anything but quiet. As my wife was lying in the operating room exhausted from her task at hand. Willy was taken from her whom and turned to pick me out of the several nurses and doctors to give me a very defiant scream to let me know he was here. With that I instantly became a proud father with a beautiful family.

My wife and I were very young but deeply in love. Having Willy at such young age was a blessing that brought us even closer together and really helped to shape me into a father.

Both my wife and I were amazed with my son's love and intelligence. The academics in High school were a breeze for him. When we asked him how he got such awesome grades he just shrugged it off by saying "either you have got it or you don't." We loved his confidence and very naturally we began to call him our Golden Child. He never heard us call him that but we are so proud of him.

As he grew to be a young man we could really see how happy he was. He was open to experiencing a lot of new things and also began to realize how important family was. Spending more time with his little brother and having important talks with his mother.

We were so blessed to have him for 25 years. Who would have known 25 years would be a lifetime, but we will always cherish that time we had. Willy we love you and will see you again my beloved Golden Child!!!!
