William Weatherly Pinner Jr.

William Weatherly Pinner, Jr., died peacefully Tuesday, September 20, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with Frontotemporal Dementia.
Affectionately known as "Billy," he was born in Goldsboro, NC, to William W. Pinner and Catherine Maria Fornari Pinner. Billy was the son of a decorated Air Force fighter pilot, his true hero, and lived abroad in Thailand, Germany, the Netherlands, and England, in addition to multiple states in the U.S., making friends across the globe.
He was a 1979 graduate of Pembroke High School in Hampton, VA, and earned a Bachelor's degree from Washington and Lee University where he completed the ROTC program. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and rose to the rank of First Lieutenant in 1984. He proudly served as an Armored Tank Officer in 2/32 Armor Battalion, 3rd Armored Division, Ayer's Kaserne, FRG as a member of the "Outlaws." After serving in Germany and leaving the military, he enjoyed life in Florida where he lived until his passing.
A natural born prodigy, he possessed a rare gift that allowed him to play music by ear and make notes come together beautifully. Throughout his education, he absorbed knowledge like a sponge and made learning look easy. He was pursued by many Ivy League schools for his sharp intellect. His wonderful sense of humor, contagious laugh, warm nature, curiosity, and devotion to family and his country were unmatched and have left a lasting mark on all those who loved him. He was known amongst his Outlaw brothers as "Bill the Cat." His band of brothers noted that he was the embodiment of the spirit and soul of his military battalion.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Phoebe Graveline Boufeaux Pinner, his loving sons, William Weatherly Pinner III, and Brandon Keith Pinner; his adoring siblings Mariana Blair Pinner, Timothy Hunter Pinner, and half-sister Amy Woolwine Taylor (David) of Virginia Beach, VA, precious niece Catherine Weatherly Bray, wonderful stepchildren Tracy Stallworth (Madison), Nicole Stallworth, and Nicholas Stallworth, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Colonel William W. Pinner, Sr. (USAF RET) and Catherine Maria Fornari Pinner, and sister, Marcia Weatherly Pinner.
The family would like to thank the care providers at the Lake Nona VA Medical Center in Orlando for the exceptional care they provided to Billy in his final days, as well as his loving and devoted caretakers Mirielle Denizard, Zoraida Zapata, and Jeffrey Sanchez for their soothing presence and support throughout his courageous battle.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on October 4, 2022 at Twiford Memorial Chapel with a graveside committal to follow in Old Hollywood Cemetery in Elizabeth City, NC. The service will be livestreamed at www.twifordfh.com/william-weatherly-pinner-jr.
The family is hosting a reception at Montero's Restaurant immediately following the services.
