William R. Plunkett

William R. Plunkett, 87, of Houston, passed away peacefully in his home, Friday, October 24, 2025. He was born April 11, 1938, in Houston, a son of the late Paul M. and Dorothy Bloser Plunkett. Bill was a 1956 graduate of Chartiers High School and served with the US Army in Italy from 1961 to 1963. He was employed by McGraw-Edison for 35 years, retiring in 1991. Bill was an avid insulator collector who spent many hours with his son searching for the glass gems. He was a 45-year member of the National Insulator Association. On July 25, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart Ruth Cheslock. Ruth passed away less than 24 hours after her beloved husband on Saturday October 25, 2025. Surviving are a son, Bill Plunkett and his wife Marcy of Marianna; five sisters, Mary Donaldson of Redondo Beach, CA, Jean Woznichak of Washington, Marge Calvert of Youngsville, Pattie Dillie (Greg) of Houston and Millie Koceski (Bob) of Canonsburg; three brothers, Chuck Plunkett of Tulsa, OK, James W. Plunkett (Bev) of Washington, Wally Plunkett (Bev) of Towson, MD; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are a sister, Dorothy "Tootie" Meeks; and two brothers, Paul "Bub" Plunkett and Thomas A. Plunkett. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon, the time of service, Saturday, November 1, 2025, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342. Interment will be private. The family wishes to thank Mary Beth Potts and her staff at Angles for the Elderly for their exceptional care of Bill.
