William Otho Pugh, 79, of Kosciusko, Mississippi, died December 5, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Attala. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Marvin Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Mike Barrentine will officiate the services.
William was born January 18, 1946, to Clayton Pugh and Ruth Genell Walker Pugh in Attala County. He served in the United States Army as Private First Class for 8 months until he was wounded in Vietnam. William, who was 22 years old at the time, was wounded May 5,1968, a month after he arrived in the war zone. He was in a combat operation when hit by fragments from a Viet Cong bobby trap, where he was severely wounded in the chest area. Major General Kenneth G. Wickham sent a telegram to his wife, Billie Joyce Pugh and his mother, Mrs. Ruth Walker Pugh of his injuries. PFC William O. Pugh was held in a Vietnam hospital.
William is survived by his loving and devoted daughter, Mary (Ashley) Dorsey of Kosciusko, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Walker Pugh, wife, Billie Joyce Pugh, brothers, Wayne Woodson, and James Pugh.
Serving as pallbearers are Ken Dana, Trey Dana, Marshall Whittemore, Houston Whittemore, Don Rosamond, and Joey Odom.
The Dorsey family wants to give special gratitude to the girls at Veterans Home, Bobbi Collins, Kenya Jackson, Mechellay Teague, Leslie Griffin, Twyila Allen, Betty Rodgers, Marquita Davis, and Hospice nurse Erica Houston. Also, other special gratitude to Dr. Greg Browning, Kerry Crowson, NP, caretakers at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Attala, Tasha Hannah, Kayla Searcy, and Geannie Burton.
