William Putz

William "Bill" Putz, 56, of Burlington, died at 1:05 PM Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born June 7, 1957, in Evergreen Park, IL, he was the son of Charles and Anita Clare Barnard Putz. Bill worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway as a conductor. He graduated from the University of Illinois. He was of the catholic faith. He enjoyed music, art, the Chicago Bears, the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Black Hawks hockey, traveling, photography, car racing, cartooning, animals, and beer. Survivors include his Fiancé, Debbie and her son, John Howard, both of Burlington; his father, Charles Putz of Evergreen Park, IL, one brother, Kenny Putz of Mt. Horeb, WI; two sisters, Nancy Putz of Chicago, IL, and Maryanne Lustig of Winfield, IL; one niece, Sarah Hinton; and three nephews, Todd Lustig, Matthew Lustig, and Zach Gordon. He was preceded in death by his mom and one sister, Barbara Jo Putz Gordon. Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home. The Funeral Service for Mr. Putz will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 30, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Father Hai Dinh officiating. Cremation will be entrusted to Thielen Crematory following the funeral service. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
