William Ralston Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dobbs Funeral Home - Orlando on Jan. 8, 2026.
William E. Ralston, 79, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on January 5, 2026. Known affectionately as Pop, Pop-Pop, or Uncle Bill by his family and friends who are family, was a loving and devoted husband to Carole, and a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all who knew him.

William was known by friends and neighbors as kind, friendly, and caring, ready to help anyone in need. He enjoyed daily walks, working in the garden, or caring for his lawn – often stopping to chat with familiar faces along the way. An avid mechanic, William could frequently be found working on cars during his free time, generously helping family and friends with their vehicles. William's caring and gentle nature also shone through the time he spent walking and being with the family's dogs and assisting with the animals on his son and daughter-in-law's farm.

Above all else, William lived his life devoted to his family. He loved dancing and was often found on the dance floor with his wife or granddaughters at any events and sometimes even break into dance at home. His love and support of his grandchildren were evident to all – whether cheering from the stands or sitting in the dugout, he supported them in anything they participated or coached in, whether it was baseball, softball, football, basketball, cheerleading or field hockey. It was his love and support of his grandchildren that helped guide them to live their dreams. William also shared a special love of baseball with his grandson, visiting many ballparks across the country, especially to watch the Mets.

The son of Reuben Ralston and Mary Catherine Wheeler, William was born in Pennsylvania, one of six children. He was a resident of East Brunswick, NJ for 40 years before settling in Orlando, FL. William worked for Paul's Trucking Company in NJ until his retirement in 2002.

After retiring, William enjoyed traveling with his family, taking road trips throughout the United States and cruises to destinations including the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Europe. He also traveled to Ireland, Germany, and Croatia, including a pilgrimage to Medjugorje and Hvar.

William will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his physical presence is gone, William's love and the impact he had will live on.

Funeral services will be held at St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church of Orlando on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11am.

So deeply sorry to hear about our friend Bill's passing. We loved him and will always remember his kindness, his willingness to help others always. We will especially remember how he faithfully assisted Deacon Tom, his wife, Carole and me with our Prayer Group every month at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church in South River, NJ for 23 years as well as for his assistance in every way possible on Divine Mercy Sunday for many years. May the Lord grant you the sweetest repose Bill Ralston...
