William “Willie” Homer Ransom, age 81, passed away at his home in Commerce, Texas on January 24, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 25, 1944, in Enloe, Texas, the son of Henry Jackson Ransom and Adelle Marie George. Visitation will take place Saturday, January 31, 2026 beginning at noon at Commerce Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Sonora Cemetery.
Willie attended Paris High School in Paris, Texas and also served with the Navy in Vietnam from 1962 to 1964. He attended Crossbrand Cowboy Church in Tyler, Texas before moving to Commerce, where he resided for the last nine years.
Willie married the love of his life, Judy Ransom, in September of 1970 in Kaufman, Texas, and they enjoyed more than 52 years together before her passing in 2022.
Willie spent his working career as a Peace Officer for the State of Texas, retiring after many years of dedicated service. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, and spending time with the family.
Left to cherish Willie’s memory are his children, Cheri Johnson (Doug) of Rockwall, Texas; Julie Faulknor (Tim) of Commerce, Texas; Anthony Ransom of Arlington, Texas; Angela Spicer of Asheville, North Carolina; Rebecca Boger (Eugene) of Mesquite, Texas; Timothy Ransom of Garland, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Those preceding Willie in death are his parents; wife, Judy; grandson, Jamie White; and brothers, Denny and Jack.
Serving as Pallbearers are Tim Faulknor, Tommy Faulknor, Marty Faulknor, Michael Hawkins, Timothy Ransom, and Monty Johnson. Serving as Honorary Bearers are Rodney “Bear” Mantooth, Paul Suddath, and Mack Odom.
The family wishes to thank Heritage Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of Willie, and also a special thanks to his caregiver, Tanya.
