William G. Rees

William G. Rees, 96, of South Abington Twp., died Monday in Allied Services Hospice Center. He was the husband of the late Jean "Mike" Michael Rees, who died less than one month prior. The couple was married for over 70 years.

Born July 8, 1926, in Kingston, he was the son of the late John Arlington and the late Jennie (Jones) Rees. Bill was a graduate of Clarks Summit Clarks Green Joint High School, where he was captain of the basketball team. He graduated from Keystone Jr. College and received a BA From Wilkes College. He also attended Virginia Military Institute. Bill honorably served his county in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War. He retired as the president and CEO of S.J. Bailey & Sons Inc.

Bill served for many years as a trustee at Keystone College.

Surviving are his daughters, Christiana Rees Tomlinson and husband, Gary, of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; Suzanne Rees Kaufman and husband, Robert C. II, of Union Dale Pa.; grandchildren, Alexa Tomlinson Airoldi and husband, Aaron, of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; Erin Tomlinson Pritchard, of Livingston, Mont.; Robert C Kaufman III, of Olyphant, Pa.; Cassandra Kaufman, of Blakeslee, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Piper and Boone Airoldi, of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; Gunnarson Pritchard, of Livingston, Mont.; Liam Heafield, of Corning, N.Y.; Conner Servercool, of Germany; great-great-grandchild, Zechariah Severcool; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by brothers, John W. Rees and wife, Betty; and J. Arlington Rees and wife, Marjorie.

The funeral will take place Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. William G. Carter. Interment at a later date in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly Twp. The family will receive relatives and friends from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
