Mr. William Paul (Bill) Riley, Sr., age 74, of Nashville, TN died on August 25, 2025 in Nashville, TN. Preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Polly Riley, brothers Pat (Alice) Riley and Mike Riley.
Mr. Riley is survived by wife of 52 years Patti Pogue Riley; sons, Bill (Amy) and Jody (Misty) Riley; grandchildren Morgan, Will, Mady Grace, Piper, and EllaJane Riley; brother, Tim (Dawn) Riley; sister, Karen Riley; brother-in-law, Leonard (Betsy) Pogue and sister-in-law, Mary Lynn (Mark) Fly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was a 1968 graduate of Father Ryan High School and a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church. Bill was also a member of The Knights of Columbus. Bill retired after 45 years in millwork sales, but his most beloved job came after retirement when he took the role of crossing guard for Wilson County Schools. He loved his co-workers and interacting with all the parents and students.
His greatest hobby was spending his time boating on Old Hickory and Center Hill lakes. One of his fondest memories was letting his grandkids drive the boat and golf cart. He could be found spending his Saturdays cheering on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Bill had a true servant’s heart, always lending a helping hand to others. “Well done thy good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21.
Funeral mass will be on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 300 S. Tarver Ave Lebanon, TN with Father Pat Kibby celebrant. Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Nashville, TN.
Pallbearers will be Tim Riley, Mark Fly, Leonard Pogue, Thomas Pogue, Franklin Pogue, and Will Riley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Knights of Columbus, Council 9787.
Memorial donations can be made to the Knights of Columbus 9787 – 622 Crowell Ln. Lebanon, TN 37090.
