William Rodgers Obituary

Rodgers, William Mitchell
ALBANY - William Mitchell Rodgers (Rodge), 82, of Colonie, N.Y., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his beloved family, Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
Born on February 9, 1943, Bill spent his childhood in Colonie, where he graduated from high school, and married his sweetheart Sally (Stanley) Rodgers. He built a life grounded in hard work as an asphalt paver and an unwavering devotion to his family. Above all, Bill was the most devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather anyone could ask for. He was immensely proud of all of his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments, and loved nothing more than listening to the stories behind them. Bill was a quiet, patient man, he didn't say much, but he was always listening, offering his presence and support.
He treasured his family deeply and found joy in every birthday, holiday, and family gathering, whether it was helping his granddaughters pick out prom dresses, enjoying Sunday dinners with his family, or attending his grandsons' football games. Bill was always up for a homemade dessert, and without fail, he left each Sunday dinner with a take-home care package, lovingly prepared by Sissy.
A lifelong sports fan, Bill was a lettered football, baseball and basketball player in school. He later became an avid golfer. Rodge was a proud member of Shaker Ridge Country Club for many years, and went on several golf trips with his buddies.
Bill is survived by his three children, Suzette Amrock (Sissy), William Rodgers Jr. (Gary Kuchta), and Robert Rodgers (Bob), his "roomie and sidekick"; along with his three cherished grandchildren, Priscilla, Pristine (Oliver Wadhams) and Robert (Bobby); three great-grandchildren, Remi, Scarlett, and Rylee; and sister Beverly Pottala. He was predeceased by his grandson, Blake; and his sister, Barbara Aidala. Bill spent his final years lovingly cared for by his son, Bob, and grandson, Bobby, whose devotion brought him great comfort.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, 3 to 6 p.m., at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany, N.Y. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only.
