William Rowden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Valley-Point Funeral Home & Cremation on Dec. 6, 2025.
William "Bill" Eaves Rowden, age 81, passed away on December 5, 2025. Born on March 27, 1944, in Athens, McMinn County, Tennessee. Bill was the son of Joseph G. Rowden, Sr., and Margaret Eaves Rowden.

Bill graduated from McMinn County High School and went on to earn an engineering degree from the University of Tennessee, where he also became a lifelong and devoted Vols fan. His sharp mind, steady work ethic, and commitment to excellence shaped both his professional life and the way he approached every role he held.

Bill loved deeply and lived wholeheartedly. He was an avid golfer and a faithful member of Loyd Presbyterian Church, where he served in many capacities through the years. His gentle leadership, generosity, and unwavering faith left a lasting imprint on his church community.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Rowden, the love of his life; and by his brother, Jerry Rowden. He is survived by his brother, Joseph G. Rowden, and wife, Joyce, and their daughter, Missy. He is also survived by Sally Connally of Nashville.

He is lovingly remembered by Clint Clem and by Lisa (Charles) Hudson; and by his grandchildren: Chase (Beth) Hudson, Mary Ellen (Marvin Lummis) Hudson, Thomas (Megan) Hudson, and Florence (Alex) Rogers. His memory will be treasured by his great-grandchildren: Easley Hansen, Camilla Hansen, Olivette Lummis, Ben Hudson, Harper Hudson, Mary Charles Hudson, Hollis Rogers, and Ren Rogers.

Bill loved "big"-especially when it came to his family. His presence was steady, his laughter contagious, and his heart immeasurably kind. All who knew him felt the strength of his love and the depth of his loyalty.

Services commemorating his life will be held Thursday, December 11 at 11:00 at Loyd Presbyterian Church.
