Russ passed peacefully while holding hands with his wife of almost 56 years. He is survived by his wife, Eileen, children Aimee Brown Christo, Dr. Kelly Brown, Sean (Karianne) Brown and Caitlin Brown. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jillian and Kaedin Christo and Liam, Ainsley and Elsa Brown and by many cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian (Grandma “E”) and William (Pidge) Brown, and his daughter Jill.

Russ was a graduate of Elder High School, class of 1964. After graduation, he joined the Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he married the love of his life and started his family. During that time, he attended and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in business. He became a computer analyst for R.L. Polk and Company working there until 2000. That year he started his own financial services company, Russ Brown Financial Services. He loved helping his clients secure their financial futures.

Russ enjoyed coaching four of his five children in soccer, softball, baseball, and basketball. In addition, he coached Knothole baseball before his children were born. He also played competitive baseball with the Knights of Columbus Squires, the R.L. Polk competitive softball team and with the St. Antoninus Old Timers. Since his youngest daughter, Caitlin, was unable to play sports he spent countless hours playing cards and other games with her. During those games, he taught her all about the sports he loved, especially baseball.

Russ served as president of the St. Antoninus Athletic Club and in that role he was chairman of the summer festival and of the first Main Event fundraiser. Russ also served on Parish Council and as a Eucharistic Minister and usher for many years.

In later years, he joined a local BNI networking group, the Elder Businessmen’s Association, as well as the Delhi Business Association. While president of the Delhi Business Association, he coordinated the annual Delhi Christmas parade and the annual Delhi Easter Egg Hunt at Delhi Park for many years.

For almost 10 years Russ hosted The American Dream, a radio talk show about all things related to our American dream.

While Russ was proud of serving his country in the Air Force, he was most proud of his long marriage to Eileen, and his children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments. He was a doting grandfather and spoiled those grandkids any chance he had.
