William James Russo, known as Bill, 90 of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025.
Born on October 2, 1935, in Bronx, NY he was a son of the late Elizabeth Russo (Marinello) and Anthony Russo.
Bill was a devoted husband to Marsha, his childhood sweetheart and wife of 63 years who passed in 2019. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his many nephews and nieces. Family was everything to him. He was a lifelong member of the International Union of Bricklayers Allied Craftworkers of New York. Bill was an avid Yankee fan his entire life. He served in the Army, where he also played baseball. He and his beloved wife Marsha loved to travel to the Caribbean and most of all vacationing in the Bahamas and St Maarten. A highlight for Bill and Marsha was the yearly fourth of July celebration, when family and friends would gather every year for lots of food, fun and fireworks.
Bill is preceded in death by his brothers Artie and Tony and his sisters Gloria and Florence.
Bill is survived by his three children, and their families; his daughter, Laura (Scarola) and Michael; Granddaughter, Rachel (Peter) and Benjamin and their daughters, Evelyn and Maeve; and Grandson, Michael Scarola. His Daughter, Nancy (Schoedler) and Jeffery; Grandson, Christopher and Jessica; and Great-Grandson, William; Granddaughter, Alyson (Riccio) and Taylor; and Great-Granddaughter, Nellie. His Son, Bill Russo and Lisa and Grandson, Anthony.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. Interment will immediately follow at St Benedict Catholic Church Columbarium, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, Mt Pleasant, SC 29466.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
