I thank God everyday that I had the chance to work with such an awesome man! He was an exemplary example of what a funeral director should be and I admired him in everything he did. I will miss him so, but take great comfort in knowing he is in his eternal glory with our Father. I love you, Bill!

To the family of Bill - I have known Bill for most of my life, having lived in No. St. Paul most of it. Nealy all my family members were shown at Sandbergs. He made you feel like a family member in how he took care of matters for you. I will always be grateful to him for that. It was a wonderful thing he did for my cousin Bud Bender when he had "Bud Bender Day" a while back, celebrating his 90th birthday, and how Bud still lives in his home that he lived in all his life. Quite an accomplishment. Bill was a very good friend to many many people in the town of No. St. Paul, which is why he was mayor for so many decades. I know he will be missed by a great many people. I was serving on the North St. Paul City Council when Bill was elected Mayor and served with him for ten years until I retired and moved north. I had great respect for Bill as fellow public servant and as afriend. I was so sorry to hear of his illness and his passing. Unfortunately, todays weather has kept me from traveling to the cities for his funeral. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Karen and all your family.

I met the Mayor when I was in juvenile and remember his great sense of humor. I can't remember having as good a time as I did given our common interests.

I met Bill when I was a reporter at Lillie News, covering nearly five years worth of city council meetings. He made everyone feel welcome and comfortable in those council chambers, whether they were there to complain about their neighbor's barking dog or more controversial issues having to do with trash hauling or Highway 36. He made sure everyone had a chance to air their grievances and actually listened, a rare trait in today's busy world. I admired his wisdom, sense of humor, warm personality, unwavering faith, devotion to his family & dedication to his community. In my mind, North St. Paul is synonymous with the 44-foot-tall stucco snowman, the Polars, Fall Round-up, Crazy Days, and Mayor Sandberg. He will be missed.

Mayor Bill was a wonderful person. My family has many fond memories of him. My grandmother Viola Vander Wyst who passed away on January 1, 2000 at age 97 was one of his grade school teachers at Saint Peter's School. She loved him. North Saint Paul will never be the same. I miss him already.

We've lost a good friend. I will always remember Bill from my days when I worked with him at the funeral home that bore his family name. I tried to call him "Mr. Sandberg" and he always made me call him Bill. He was a funny, giving, patient, loving man. Bill made me laugh every day, and taught me how to live and work around death while celebrating life. God Bless his memory, he will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to Karen, her family, Bill's friends and the people of North St. Paul.

Bill was a great friend and I missed him as soon as I moved to Spooner. Bill was a great example of someone who loved Jesus and my favorite memory was of him walking into a room (even a restaurant) and with in minutes everyone was smiling and laughing. Bill left me many great memories of him in the 10 years that I ‘hung around’ with him while living in North Saint Paul. Bill would have asked us to keep praying for Karen, Jack, Carolyn and William during this tough time. He had enough love to go around ‘town’, but he loved his family the most.

Mayor Sandberg was alway a kind and friendly person and took an interest in me and my housemates. He took an interest in my artwork and bought many of my paintings and notecards which made me very happy and proud. I will miss him and his nice smile. My staff (Jennie Norton) and I always looked forward to seeing him at North St. Paul events and were happy to see him at some of the events at my group home as well . We send our best wishes to his family and his many friends in this time of loss.

My prayers are with Bill's family. I will always remember Bill and the running joke/song we had "Let Me Entertain You". We always sang that when we would meet and he always said "Joycie, get those words to that song and we'll sing it at Fall Round-Up together. Of course we never did sing the song, but it was fun to think about. He was a wonderful man and I will never forget him.
