Dear Barb and Schmidt family,
On this anniversary of Bill's death I would like to say, Thank You for this reminder of A Great Man. My friendship with Helen, Ellie and Marv, Ray and La Verne has made me realize the importance of having good and lasting friends. My oldest sister died just before Christmas from a very similar accident and your dear Bill came to mind. Now with time only the good and precious memories are with us. Thanks for good people in our lives.

Dear Barb and family:
My heart goes out to you on the loss of Bill so early. I lost my father when he was 79, too, and know what it feels like.
I will always remember the honor of celebrating your 25th wedding anniversary with you so long ago.
May you be surrounded with peace and much love during this time and in the years ahead. May the good memories strengthen you during the grief process.
Sending love and a hug,
Cinde Becker

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Schmidt families. I first met Bill when I was young, Bill was a good friend of my father. I remember him as a very caring and compassionate man. Each time we happen to be together, he would always take the time to talk to me to ask how I was doing.
He will always be remembered!

We are so sorry to hear Bill has left this world. He and his generosity will be missed by the many people who knew him and by the countless number whose lives he touched who did not get to know him. I pray that he will be working soon in God's woodshop with and for children, golfing, playing cards, laughing and joking, and enjoying his family from above. May God grant peace to the loved ones left behind knowing they were and still are loved and watched over by such a man. Know that he made the world a better place for being in it.

My condolences to the Schmidt family. We lost one of the good guys!
As a Board member of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, I had the honor and pleasure of working with Bill and Sarah over a number of years on the U.S. Venture Open fundraising in the Green Bay area. They were an inspiration to me. Bill was such an incredibly generous person who cared deeply about people, especially those in need. His joy in life made it fun for others. I am lucky to have known him.

Barb and all of the Schmidt family, I have been blessed to be part of the Petroleum Equipment family for several years and had the honor of working for Bill for many years. My son Adam, now 32, was a lucky recipient of one of Bill's first toy trains many years ago, and I am proud to say that he still treasures it today. My most recent experience of seeing children's eyes light up when they saw his colorful trains was while in Kenya this past year at Vicodec. Bill donated several of his creations to the kids there and the oohs and aahs were amazing to hear as we set them up on the table to present to them. He was an incredibly generous benefactor and great man to get to know and work with. My sympathies to you all as you go through this difficult journey. May all of your great memories help you keep him ever present. God bless.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I used to pump gas at the Combined Locks gas station for Schmidt Oil. Bill would always come by on Sundays to check on things and make sure all was well. Occasionally he would bring the guys on that crew some fried chicken from a local business. He was a very nice person and I have many good memories of him and that time in my life. My Dad, Orville J. Bongers, used to play golf with Bill and his brothers and sadly passed away 5 years ago February 9. I'm sure he'll have fair winds and a following sea ahead of him.

My condolences to Barbara and the whole family, and the whole Schmidt clan. You, and we, all lost a real class act who like nothing better than helping othesr. I remember playing in the first US Oil Open at MidValley with Kenny Heid out there cooking us steaks on a giant grill. My how Bill built that golf outing up to what it is today. One word Bill never let a potential sponsor use in his presence was "NO". He was not done with them until they said YES. Raising money to help others was his passion--and he was the best when it came to that. Think of the thousands and thousands who have been helped because of that outing and Schmidt Family Foundation. I could envision Bill getting to heaven and asking St Peter, "Hey, if you let any of these people bring their money with them, why don't you let me organize a charity golf outing"--grin. Seriously, he was one class act !! I will sure miss him. Larry Schmitz

Bill was a warm and friendly neighbor....always eager to know the details of our lives since we last met. What I admire most is his generous spirit and the major financial contributions to many not for profits, many near and dear to my heart. May that generosity be continued in his name and in his spirit! Sue Steinbruecker, Sugar Land, Texas
