William Schott Obituary

William H. Schott, Jr.
William H. Schott, Jr., 59, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. Bill was predeceased by his father, William Schott Sr. and is survived by his mother, Barbara Schott. Bill was an amazing husband to his wife, Paula Schott, as they just celebrated their 30th anniversary. They have shared many wonderful memories filled with love and laughter over the years.
Bill leaves behind his daughter, Chelsea Schott-Kuruc and her husband Nicholas, and their precious daughter, Gianna. Bill proudly became a Poppy to Gianna early this year, and the bond they shared, while brief, was beyond beautiful.
Bill attended Meriden Public Schools and was a graduate of Maloney High School, where he developed his love for ice hockey and football. After graduating from Maloney, Bill went on to complete his associates degree at Western Connecticut State University.
One of Bill's favorite memories was the time he spent coaching his daughter Chelsea throughout the many years of her softball career with the Meriden Mayhem and the CT Shock. Bill never missed a minute of his daughter's games, from softball to volleyball to basketball. The support Bill gave Chelsea throughout her life was returned by Chelsea stepping in as Bill's nurse during his time of need. Bill was always so proud of Chelsea's accomplishments and the bond they shared was unbreakable. Chelsea is so fortunate to have these beautiful memories of her dad.
Bill was employed by Eversource Energy for over 30 years where he worked his way up the career ladder and was the Manager of Instrumentation and Regulation. He truly enjoyed his job and all of his coworkers.
In addition to his family, Bill's greatest passions were hunting and fishing. His favorite possession was his boat, "The Poppy", named after his dad. This is where you would find Bill most weekends with his fishing and hunting buddies, Carl Panceira and Peter and Tomas Ercolani. He would always return home from his hunting and fishing trips with some of the best stories.
Besides his wife and family, Bill is survived by his sister, Bobbi Ann Vandal; his mother and father-in-law, Patricia and Dennis Ruehl; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jamie and Paul Mendonca, Cathy and Anthony LaPiana; his best friends, Peter and Mary-Jean Ercolani and Butch and Dawne Jimenez. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Bill and Carol Bundock, as well as his many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bill's smile and great sense of humor will forever be missed. He had one of the biggest hearts which will never be forgotten by all that love him.
Paula, Chelsea and Nick would like to thank all their family and friends during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank Dr. Fumo's Practice and the hospice team of Hartford Healthcare.
Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450, on Friday, November 7th from 4 to 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 8th at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish, St. Joseph Church, 177 West Main Street, Meriden, CT 06451.
