Of Orchard Park, NY, July 20, 2023. Beloved husband of Lynn (Parker) Selent; father of Laura E. (Michael) Winfield, William P. (Robyn) Selent and Jill E. (Stephen) Spitz; grandfather of Emily, Morgan, Jackson, Denali, Shenandoah, Erich, Carly, Benjamin and Kassy; brother of John (Patricia) Selent. No prior visitation. As a player of his, I often butted heads with Coach Selent. Now, as a teacher and coach myself for the past 30 years, I try to be just like him. Thanks for all the lessons Coach. You were a true role model.

Dear Selent family,
I wanted to extend my sympathies and prayers. Like many OPHS students, I benefitted from Mr. Selent's warm and positive personality and example. I have many fond memories of Mr Selent. He was a great teacher and a great coach, but most important was that he was a man of great character. He taught us how to work hard to achieve goals and how to behave as gentlemen. R.I.P. Mr Selent.

Condolences to Mrs. Selent, Laura, Bill and Jill and the entire family. Mr. Selent was a great man who I was fortunate to know as a teacher and also as my baseball and soccer coach. He was invariably cheerful and positive, encouraged intensity and a strong work-ethic on the field balanced by respect for opponents and referees. He was exactly the role model we needed as high school noodle-fritzers, and he made us better adults not just better athletes. It was a treat on the few occasions I ran into him on a golf course or in town. You should be very proud of his legacy.

Bill Selent was a longtime colleague and friend. A terrific physical education teacher and coach, he impacted hundreds of lives over the years. Bill and I shared lunch period for many years and I always enjoyed his company, stories and upbeat attitude. I was fortunate, over the years, to be the counselor for all his children. My sincere condolences to the entire family.

To the Selent family my deepest condolences. Mr. Selent was my cooperating teacher in the Spring of 1978. I was fortunate to have Mr. Selent and Mr. Capote has my assigned teachers. Incredible guidance, quiet support and true caring were the cornerstones of his approach to teaching, not just his student, but anyone who looked to him for support. Such sad news. Over the years I have thought of Mr. Selent often. I have referred back to the many import life lessons he taught me and so many others who were blessed to have him as a teacher and coach. I was blessed to be part of one of his Orchard Park Soccer Teams where he led the squad to the NYS semi-finals. What wonderful memories I still have of his great coaching, the great team and great season. God bless Mr. Selent and his wonderful family. My thoughts are with you all. Coach Selent, you will be missed!
