William D. “Bill” "Swampy" SLOCUM, 67, of Wellsville, NY, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026 in his home.
Born April 19, 1958, in Wellsville, he was the son of Douglas and Leila Fanton Slocum. He married Rhonda L. Tilebein, who survives. A 1976 graduate of Bolivar High School, he attended Alfred State College. He was employed by Air Preheater in Wellsville as a welder and an engineer. Bill was a self-taught pilot and earned his pilot's license. He enjoyed flying Cessnas, Ultralights, and riding side-by-sides.
Surviving besides his wife, Rhonda, are: two children, Kimberlyn (Daniel) Springborn of Denver, CO and Ryan (Emily) Slocum of Hamburg; five grandchildren, Molly, Stella, Charlie, Logan, and Grace; a brother, Edward Slocum of Johnson City, TN; two sisters, Mary (Steve) Langworthy of Eldred, PA and Carolyn (James) Shields of Shinglehouse, PA; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.
Friends may call at Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, 34 West State Street, Wellsville, NY on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM, with the family sharing memories at 12:30 PM.
