William Michael "Mike" Smith

William Michael "Mike" Smith, 62, a beloved member of the Carrollton community, passed away on March 5, 2024, in Carrollton, KY. He was born on October 27, 1961, in Carrollton, where he spent his fulfilling life making a positive impact on those around him.

Mike's dedication to service was evident throughout his career. He worked for organizations such as the Salvation Army, the Carroll County Road Department, and North American Stainless, where he served as a safety coordinator. His commitment to ensuring the well-being of others extended beyond the workplace and into his everyday interactions.

He was a graduate of Carroll County High School, His proudest accomplishments included being declared a Kentucky Colonel, serving on the former Carroll County Rescue Squad, and acting as assistant coordinator for the Carroll County Tobacco Festival. These roles allowed him to contribute meaningfully to his community and support causes he was deeply passionate about.

In his leisure time, Mike found joy in being involved with the Son's of American Legion, Post #41 in Carrollton. 

Mike will be dearly missed by his family, a daughter Candice (Joey) Jolly of Cave City, KY, sons Michael (Amy) Smith and Daniel Smith of Carrollton, KY; a sister Sandy (Brad) Bonesteel of Carrollton, KY; brothers Ricky (Patsy) Smith of Deputy, IN, Ray Smith and Jr. (Trish) Smith of Carrollton, KY, Paul (Danielle) Smith of Taylorsville, KY; and grandchildren Kenzie Smith, Anna (Isaac) Eubank, Jackson Williams, Evan Williams, Brittany (Skylar) Foreman, Samantha Foreman, Darian Beach, Alyssa (Kane) Ison , and many great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard "Dickie" Smith and Lucy Krohn.

The visitation and funeral service to honor Mike's life will be held on Friday, March 8th at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. The visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM followed by the funeral service from 3:00 PM.  Burial will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the family in care of the funeral home to help assist with funeral expenses.
