Bill graduated from the United States Military Academy (West Point) and was commissioned in the U.S. Army in June 1943. He married his high school sweetheart, Rosewitha, in December 1943 and was a devoted husband for over 75 years. Bill loved his country and its constitutional principles. Grandad is a hero! We will miss him so much, but we are thankful for all of the incredible years that we had with him. I pray that my great grandchildren get a chance to know me in the same way Grandad got to know his. Our entire family owes more than we could ever repay to this courageous man. From raising a God fearing family, serving this great nation, and to loving his wife with his whole heart, Grandad exemplified what it means to be a man, husband, and father. We will continue to speak of him often and pass his legacy to generations to come.

Dad learned about honor and integrity and love for others from a young age from Father Pat and his Mom, in his formative years in Glendale, CA. Those values were always high on his list of priorities throughout his life and through the end as he encouraged us all to love and care for each other even as some of his last words. We, siblings and relatives, and all who knew and loved Dad, recognize, The Second Great Commandment, here: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. I know that he followed the first and great commandment too: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. He has gone home to the Father and to be with Rosewitha. Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

When asked in school, what's your dad's name: of course the answer was: Dad.

We love my Dad, William Wayne Snavely
