William A. "Bill" Solimene, 78, of Speigletown, beloved husband for 48 years of Nancy Dignum Solimene, peacefully entered into eternal life, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., raised in Pelham, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Masucci Solimene. He was a graduate of Pelham Memorial High School, where he was co-captain of the football team and captain of the wresting and track & field teams and Fashion Institute of Technology, where he earned his Associates Degree.
Bill was a career sales associate with Spector's Clothing in Albany and Colonie, and Kelly Clothes in Latham.
He, along with his family, enjoyed spending summers at Queechy Lake, in Canaan, N.Y. He was a communicant of Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. Bonaventure's Church) in Speigletown.
Beloved husband of Nancy; devoted father of Josephine Solimene Rustin (Jude) and the late Christopher William Solimene; brother of Joseph Solimene (Kathleen) and the late, Louis Solimene (late, Dolores); cherished grandfather of Lily Rustin and Grant Rustin, dear brother-in-law of Carol Dignum, Edward J. Dignum (Melanie), Joanne DeMeo (Tony), Martha Miller (Joseph), James Dignum, Robert Dignum (Mary), Cynthia Weber (John), Michael Dignum (Judy), Jeanne Dignum Birch and Paul Dignum (Nancy); also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 9:55 a.m., and to the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., both at Transfiguration Parish, 50 Hillview Dr., Troy, N.Y. 12182.
Interment following the Mass will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
The Solimene family would like to offer their grateful appreciation to the ICU and 5th Floor staff at Samaritan Hospital.

Condolences to Nancy, and to all of Bill's family. I worked with Bill at Spector's for a number of years. Always a friend, I found him to be a man of faith, very devoted to his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with them at his summer camp. I'll also remember his sense of humor, which helped us get through the varied circumstances of the workday. May he rest in peace.

I worked with Bill many years ago at Spector's. I have always remembered his devotion to his family and what a genuinely nice guy he was. It speaks volumes about his character that I remember him so well these many years later even though our paths crossed only briefly. My condolences to his family and friends.

I worked with Bill at Kelly Clothes when I was 16. He always spoke so highly of his daughter Josephine. Bill was a great guy with some funny stories. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
