William David Sorgius, 66, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital surrounded by his family.
David was born in Jasper, Indiana, on September 23, 1958, to William F. & Delores M. (Benjamin) Sorgius.
David married his high school sweetheart, Angela "Suzie" Cockerham on August 25, 1978, at the Otwell United Methodist Church in Otwell, Indiana.
David was a member of the Glendale Masonic Lodge and IBEW 1395 electrical union. David attended Redemption Christian Church in Jasper, Indiana, and was baptized at the First Christian Church many years ago and was a firm believer in Jesus Christ.
David retired from IPL/AES on August 1, 2024, where he was an electrician in the electrical shop.
David was happiest spending time with his grandkids, attending their sporting events, granddaughters' beauty pageants, mowing his lawn, tending his garden and relaxing under his grain bin gazebos.
David is survived by his wife of 46 years, Suzie; daughters Summer (John) Roelle & Chelsea (Brent) Schuler; granddaughters Bailee Leann Sutt, Abigail Jo Sutt & Berkley Dru Schuler; grandson Aiden Sorgius Ison; sister-in-law Teresa Sorgius; niece Peyton Sorgius; nephew Tyce (Kayla) Sorgius; and cousins.
David was preceded in death by his father William F. Sorgius, mother Delores M. Sorgius and brother Scott Sorgius.
The family would like to thank all of the supporters over the past several months, you are all greatly appreciated.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at O.D. Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana, officiated by Pastor Darrel Land, with burial to follow at Iva Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00pm and on Thursday from 10:00am until service time at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be conducted by Glendale Lodge on Wednesday evening at 7:00pm.
