William A. Sottilare ObituaryIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of William Anthony Sottilare, of Tinton Falls, New Jersey a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, and great grandfather on Friday, April 25, 2025 at the age of 90.
Bill was born on January 11, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey. After a long and joyful life filled with love and laughter, he now rejoins his beloved wife, Patricia, in heaven, with whom he shared 49 wonderful years of marriage.
He proudly served in the United State Navy during the Korean and Vietnam era from 1953-1965.
He is survived by his daughters, Denise Sottilare-Waeschle (Peter Waeschle) and Charlene Sottilare-Dyson, (Ray Dyson); his grandson, Russell A Gratta (Jessica), and his great-grandchildren; Jake, Roxanne and Russell Patrick. He also leaves behind his companion of 12 years, Jane Geoghegan. His great grandchildren were the joy of his life and often the recipients of his playful jokes.
Bill was predeceased by his wife, Patrica of 49 years; his parents, Paul and Rose (Jacques) Sottilare; brother, Paul and sister Marie Della Bella.
A lifelong provider and family man, Bill also had a passion for sports-especially as a devoted fan of the New York Giants and Yankees-and a deep love for the Jersey Shore, gardening and the outdoors. He also had a lifelong love for Corvettes and took great pride in owning and driving them. He was a hardworking entrepreneur who owned several convenience stores, including Big Bill's Deli in Linden, NJ.
Visiting will be on Friday from 10 am until his Funeral mass at 10:30 am at the Church of Saint Anselm, 1028 Wayside Rd, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712. Following the service, Bill will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 100 Chapel Hill Rd, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
