Billy was one of the greats on and off the ice! He was always ready for a party and worked the room like a champion. He was always ready with a joke or to have a serious talk about how we needed to help MTU athletics. I am proud to have considered him a friend. I will miss him and wish his family solace in their time of grief.

My condolences to the Steele family. Bill and I were teammates at Michigan Tech for two years as I was a Junior when Bill arrived on campus. He was a creative player who could create something from nothing. His skill on the ice was only surpassed by his presence in the dressing room. He could always make us laugh and keep spirits up during down times and then he was the first to celebrate with us when times were good. I remember being at Tech when my son played a AAA midget tournament there. Pie met me and said he had been to the butcher and would cook us a steak dinner that night at his place on the canal. To say we had a great time would be an understatement. Lots of laughs as we caught up with each other. Once again my thoughts are with your family, hold on to those precious memories of Billy (Pie), sincerely Lei Hartviksen, Class of 73.

Bill will truly be missed. It was a real treat to watch Bill play hockey at Tech. After he graduated I was still at Tech and remember listening on the radio to Bill playing for the Cincinnati Stingers. Prayers and condolences to the Steele family.

Such a sad day. Steely and I have known each other since playing Junior B hockey in Aurora. I have very fond memories of our times together as roommates at Michigan Tech. He was one of the most intelligent hockey players I have ever played with and will be missed by the entire Michigan Tech hockey family.
Our condolences to the Steele family.
